Without fail the Great British weather lived up to it's summer
expectations, a week earlier we would've been basking in mediterranean
lushness. The weekend that we all got off work was almost a washout.
This however, did not detract from the right Royal knees up that was the
Queen's Diamond Jubilee. As we set off for the river pageant camera in
tow and expectations high one thing we didn't count on was the
determination of the British nation to set up camp along the River
Thames. It soon dawned on us that perhaps setting off before the early
morning chorus of song birds may have been our best option to glimpse a
once in a lifetime showing of 1000 boats on the river. Alas our timing
was only slightly off by about 6 hours and so as we arrived an ocean of
people congregating on the road met us. This didn't divert from the
situation as the crowd was in awesome form, and the mood was electric.
People from all parts of the human race populated the space provided and
it felt good to be among them. So as we waded, walked and wandered
aimlessly along the embankment we snapped away with vigour and hopefully
the images below express the feeling of the day. It certainly was a
once in a lifetime experience!
